Chesterfields Iconic Sofa Is Now A Concrete Garden Furniture

The iconic sofa from Chesterfield has recently been recreated in concrete. It is now used as garden furniture. To built the concrete model the mould from the old version of genuine leather was taken. It took a week to built this concrete sofa. In the new era of contemporary furniture what do we have here? In a way it is a good thing that they want to keep the memory of an iconic sofa but in concrete? Ok I understand but please do put some comfy cushions.

The sofa created in concrete is 7 foot wide and the seat is comfortable said the creator Steve Jones. I know for sure that I won’t able to sit on the concrete sofa for few hours because my bottom will certainly start hurting. End of this year the concrete collection will be going on sale. I am not sure who would like to buy this concrete sofa? I believe the local government should get hold off it, if it is an iconic sofa? To be honest I just don’t get all this.

I don’t see this concrete sofa as being a part of restaurant furniture or even reception furniture. Though I can see some rich person buying it and making it a part of their garden. Just imagine if you buy the sofa for your reception and then ask one of your new visitor to seat on it. I don’t think anyone will seat on it and also it can seriously hurt someone. When you are tired you are looking to seat somewhere which is comfortable, where you can relax your body and feet and there is always a force when seating down and a sigh of relief. Argh and the pain of seating on the concrete sofa in that force would be unbearable. Talk about having modular seating in your office.

Its a good thing Mr Jones has done by creating a concrete version if an iconic sofa.
