Ever woke up and thought to yourself, I want to speak French? I woke up thinking that, I blame it on my dreams. I went to France and no one could understand my English. No one could understand me when I was at the bar ordering a drink! I think I said something about this girlfriend being ugly. Anyways, the point of the dream was that I wanted to learn French now. How hard is it for someone in their 20′s to learn a new language?
Well first off, the older you are, the harder it is to learn. This is mainly related to the fact that your brain activity decreases with age. Children can learn languages like no one’s business, because they have very high brain activity. In comparison to someone in their 20′s like me, a 60 year old would have a hard time learning a new language. So what are people like me to do?
There are so many different ways around getting a private tutor or enrolling in classes. You’ll find that most programs are junk. Try picking up a French to English dictionary and read that, good luck. And audio lessons are perfect for people who need to be prescribed sleeping medication. I found out that the best programs for learning how to speak a language combine audio, video and reading. This way the lessons are entertaining and easy to follow. You can also play games on some of these programs, this definitely helps.
One of the best programs on the market today in my opinion is Rocket French by Marie-Claire Riviere. The online lessons are awesome. The lessons feature a French native. This way you are getting proper dialect and current and up to date terms. Anyways, I also found a good review for you to check out too, Rocket French Review. Hopefully you will end up having a better process of learning how to speak French!
